Andrea Johnson is the Executive Director at Green Empowerment where combines her diverse background to bring renewable energy and clean water infrastructure to rural communities across the globe. 

After Andrea completed her climate research during her undergraduate studies at Duke University, she was a research fellow at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center before joining the Peace Corps. After almost four years living in a bamboo hut in coastal Ecuador, Andrea moved to Oregon to work in the energy sector. 

Andrea is also a Co-Founder of Global PDX, and is the voice of their "Speaking Change" podcast showcasing Oregon’s global changemakers. In 2023, Andrea was awarded "Executive of the Year in Social Impact" from the Portland Business Journal. In 2022, Andrea delivered a TEDx Talk "Shifting Power for a More Equitable World" in Fiesole, Italy.
